LA County Coroners have confirmed that Linkin Park lead vocalist Chester Bennington has died at the age of 41, after taking his own life in his home on Thursday.
They said that Bennington apparently hung himself after his body was discovered at 9am local time yesterday.
He leaves behind a wife and six children from two marriages.
The Linkin Park frontman reportedly struggled with drug and alcohol abuse and has previously talked about thinking of suicide as a result of being the victim of child abuse.
Bennington was apparently close to Chris Cornell who was the lead singer for Soundgarden who took his own life earlier this year in May.
Yesterday would have been Cornell’s 53rd birthday.
An official statement is expected to be released on the bands twitter account soon as tributes from fans and colleges begin to poor in.
The band which formed in 1996, have had such hits as In The End, Numb and Crawling and even collaborated with rapper Jay-Z.
A tremendous talent and a real loss to the world of music.
