Many of you out there will have undoubtedly of heard the name Bitcoin by now after its meteoric rise to fame throughout 2017 causing every man and his dog to talk about the world’s most popular cryptocurrency, however what some of you might not be aware of is that Bitcoin is not actually the most lucrative cryptocurrency on the market and in fact there are over 1,400 other cryptocurrency’s in existence and that number is rising daily.
While many acknowledge Bitcoin as being the “daddy” of all cryptocurrencies with its roughly $242 billion market capitalisation it is in fact not even in the world’s current top ten best performing cryptocurrencies.
Currently a currency called Ripple is top of the pile boasting a staggering 36,000 percent rise over the course of 2017 and at the start of this year surpassed the 100 billion euro capitalisation mark.
Other well performing coins include Ether which was created back in 2009 by a then 19-year-old programmer and specialists are flagging it as a promising prospect.
So far roughly 40 different virtual currencies have passed the billion-euro mark on market capitalisation a vast increase on the six currencies that had managed that feat just a few short months ago.
Leading analysists have stated that they see know end in sight for the rising value of cryptocurrencies with some experts predicting a spending spree once Wall Street bankers receive their bonuses come January 15 according to Meltem Demirors the director of the Digital Currency Group.
