A woman who was in the Manchester Arena when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives, survived because she was using her iPhone when the blast occurred.
A metal nut, which was propelled through the air, hit the phone, forcing it to change direction, avoiding her brain. The projectile did severe damage to her cheek and nose but had it entered her head, she would have died.
Lisa Bridgett has much to thank her phone for. Husband Steve said his wife “was lucky to be alive”.
Lisa endured multiple injuries to her face, thigh and ankle, along with the loss of a finger but was grateful her life was spared, when so many others died.
The couple offered their gratitude to the police, hospital staff and a steward known only as Peter, who helped Lisa to safety.
