Police have discovered a paedophile ring that used an online messaging service to share sick, explicit images of children.
Thirty-nine people were arrested in what became an international operation. Those involved used WhatsApp to share and distribute the images.
Spanish police say the perverts used the online service to deliver images to around 100 groups.
The pornographic material depicted abusive and brutal treatment of children under the age of eight.
As a result of the police work, hundreds of phones have been seized from a network containing at least 135 people, from 18 countries in Europe, and the Americas.
In Spain alone, they arrested 17 perverts.
Investigations lead police as far afield as Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru and Portugal.
The successful operation was carried by Interpol and Europol.
