World renowned physicist and author Stephen Hawking whose works have inspired millions of people all over the globe has died aged 76.
A statement was released by his family earlier this morning which confirmed reports that he had passed away at his home in Cambridge.
The statement released by his three children Robert, Tim and Lucy said “We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today.”
Hawking was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 1963 when he was aged 21, at the time doctors expected him to only live for another 2-years, however it transpired that his form of disease progress more slowly than doctors expected allowing him to live until the age of 76.
Though he spent much of his life in a wheelchair and spoke with the aid of an electronic voice it will be his brilliance and humor that the professor his remembered for.
Some of the professor’s greatest academic achievements include developing mathematical proof of black holes and proving Einstein’s theory of general relativity among countless other scientific achievements.
