For those of you who were brought up in the UK, many of you will recall a children’s TV show called “Blue Peter” that entertained millions of kids over the decades.
Sadly, one of its most popular presenters has passed away at the age of 83.
John Noakes, hosted the show in the 1960s and 70s, appearing on the program for over 12 years. He was often seen with his sidekick, a border collie called “Shep” and coined the phrase “Get down Shep” when the dog climbed over him during live shows.
John was always keen to get outdoors and climbed Nelson’s Column or went sky diving as part of his role for Blue Peter.
The show where the baby elephant dumped on the studio floor and featuring the likeable John with Valerie Singleton and Peter Purves, will remain in many people’s memories for years to come.
