A hero policeman saved a Thai dog from certain death when he reached for the dog’s leash, preventing the animal entering a busy tunnel in New York.
Amazingly, this was the second time that the dog named Pandy has escaped death after it had been rescued from an illegal dog meat trade in Thailand.
The four year old mongrel escaped during a recent snow storm in the American city, getting away from its handler during a daily walk. Volunteers from the rescue shelter pursued the dog but lost sight of it.
Fortunately, the dog was microchipped, which allowed the it to be returned to the rescue centre.
Executive Director of the rescue centre Tiffany Lacey was delighted when Pandy was delivered back safe and well.
