Roger Moore, famous for playing 007 in many James Bond movies, has died at the age of 89.
He died following a short but brave fight with cancer his family said.
He played Ian Fleming’s fictional character, James Bond in seven movies including Live and Let Die and The Spy Who Loved Me.
Roger Moore was born in London, England on 14th of October, 1927. He ventured into modelling in the 1950s and acted in a number of movies but his big break came when he was offered the role of Simon Templar, in the hit TV series “The Saint”.
The character went a long way to landing him the role of James Bond in 1973.
More was well known for his charity work. In 1991 he was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. He was knighted in 2003 by Queen Elizabeth for “services to charity” and in 2008, he was appointed a Commander of the Ordre des Arts et Des Lettres by the French government.
