Three Thai women have been rescued in Malaysia amidst fears they were being used in the sex trafficking industry.
The woman were located in a cheap hotel in Mergong area of Alor Setar and are aged between 24 and 31.
CID Chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Nashir Ya said that Anti-Human Trafficking and Anti-Vice squads raided the hotel, taking a caretaker into custody.
The woman have been placed in a safe shelter for now.
Anyone found guilty of trafficking women for sex could face fifteen years imprisonment and a hefty fine.
