US Navy ship collides with Liberian oil tanker off Singapore

The United States Navy has announced that one of their guided-missile destroyers has collided with an oil tanker off of the coast of Singapore

A search and rescue operation is currently being carried out as ten sailors are currently missing.

The ship involved in the incident the USS John McCain was traveling through the Strait of Malacca getting ready to stop in Singapore when the collision happened.

The vessel is reported to have “sustained damage” to the port side of the ship after hitting the Liberian vessel.

Local authorities are assisting the US crew with their rescue efforts.

This incident comes just several months after seven US sailors were killed when the USS Fitzgerald hit a container ship in Japanese waters back in June.
