One man has died and at least eight injured, when a van mounted the pavement, striking victims as they left evening prayers at a mosque in Finsbury Park in north London.
A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, which police say they are treating as a potential terrorist attack.
Counter terrorist officers attended the scene shortly after it occurred.
The Muslim Council of Britain said it was a “violent manifistation of Islamophobia”. They demanded extra security at mosques following the incident.
There have been a number of terrorist related attacks on the people of the United Kingdom, most recently in Manchester, Westminster and London Bridge.
A video from the scene depicts the chaos that followed including CPR being applied to one victim and a head injury being treated on another by passers-by.
Some witnesses claim there was more than one person involved in the attack, however police say no one has reported any other suspects so far.
