Personnel from the Air and Costal Defence Command let loose a barrage of live ammunition as part of their annual anti-aircraft weapons drill which took place on January 31.
Capt Wirat Somjit the deputy commander of the Air and Costal Defence Command was in attendance at the demonstration which took place at the Tactical Training Centre on Sattahip’s Tungprong Beach.
The live fire exercise was part of the 2018 Air Defence initiative which saw over 1,000 military personnel firing a variety of heavy weaponry including twelve 37-milimeter anti-aircraft guns and four 40/70-mm cannons.
Rear Admiral Wara Tankham, commander of the Air and Costal Defence Command said that the exercise plays a vital role in the nation’s defence by improving sailor’s skills and experience with the weaponry.
