Over 300 police officers were dispatched around the city this week in Pattaya providing additional security and services during the now complete International Fleet Review.
Which was attended by Thailand’s Prime Minister and other top dignitaries from all over Thailand and the world.
Maj. Gen. Nuntachart Supamongkol from the Chonburi Provincial Police force stated that the security of servicemen and women as well as tourists attending the event was of the utmost importance.
The event celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and was attended by 19 different countries.
Officers were told to be strict and vigilant throughout the Fleet Review which ran from November 13 to 22, where checkpoints were set up across the city to search for drugs and weapons.
Police also made additional patrols along Beach Road prior to the start of the Fleet Review rounding up homeless people sleeping rough on the beach as well as beggars and transvestites in an effort to present the best image of Pattaya as possible to the visiting nations.
