Officers in Pattaya carried out raids on two shopping malls on Thursday (October 5) netting five vendors for allegedly selling knockoff watches and ladies handbags.
Police raided the venues after receiving complaints from representatives of brands that were falsely being sold taking in to evidence around 700 such items including watches and bags claiming to be makes such as Rolex and Gucci.
Officers admitted that some vendors managed to evade capture.
Phubet Mingkwan, a brand representative said he learned that fake goods were being sold at the two shopping malls and requested a search warrant be issued by Pattaya court.
He noted that if all of the goods that were taken as evidence had been sold it would have caused over 10 million baht worth of damage to the brands.
