The military has requested that businesses operating on or near the Bali Hai Pier close for two days this November during the international fleet show
Maj. Gen. Popanan Luengpanuwat the head of the National Council of Peace and Order in Banglamung held a meeting on the 27th of July between army and navy representatives, the Tour bus Association, Marine department members and boat operators.
At the meeting they discussed the 10-day fleet show, the two busiest days are expected to be the 17th and 18th and as such they have asked businesses to shut down on those days in an effort to allow the show to run as smoothly as possible.
What affect this will have on Pattaya is no boat trips to Koh Larn, no scuba diving trips and other water sports that use the pier won’t be able to happen.
Military members at the meeting said boat operators in attendance agreed to the request but its unclear how many pier-based operators were there.
The show is scheduled to run from the 13-22 November with navies from 50 countries in attendance as well as special guests on the 17-18 which includes Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
