Contractors completely demolished and removed the old dilapidated access bridge to the South Pattaya jetty as part of the continuing refurbishment of Bali Hai Pier.
It took the construction crew three days to carry out the removal of the old bridge which was the most run down section of the pier that was originally built more than a decade ago.
The bridge was also supposedly partially blocking the South Pattaya flood-drainage canal, so by removing it flooding should be eased according to Pattaya chief engineer JamornKajenjerm.
A new bridge to replace the one just taken away is still in the planning stage as a budget has not yet been approved.
While the red tape gets sorted construction crews have begun demolishing buildings and other such structures close to the canal on Second road close to the entrance of Soi 16 off of the world famous Walking Street.
With more rain on the way maybe the recently removed bridge might help ease troublesome floodwaters.
