A Chinese tourist visiting Pattaya was all smiles and full of praise for both the tourist police and one taxi driver after he was reunited with his valuables that he had accidently forgotten when departing the taxi at his hotel.
Lyu Junhao and his friends arrived in Thailand on March 6 and had previously been to Chiang Mai and Bangkok before traveling to Pattaya.
They took a taxi to their hotel were Lyu left a bag behind containing 5,000 yuan ($789) and 6,000 baht and other valuables behind in the car.
Once he realized his error Lyu contacted 1155 which is the hotline for tourist police here in Pattaya, however Chief Piyapong Ensarn had already been informed by the taxi driver 51-year-old Prasat Khayankhai that he had found the bag and valuables inside of his cab.
A meeting to hand back the tourist’s belongings was set up outside of the Central Marina where the happy tourist praised the tourist police for their quick resolution of the situation and Prasat for his honesty in returning the belongings.
Lyu handed over 100 yuan (almost 500 baht) as a reward.
