Col. Apichai Klobpetch the chief of the Pattaya City Police Station had a libel charge filed against him by another senior police officer. The court issued an arrest warrant for him after he failed to appear in court at the scheduled time.
The warrant was withdrawn after Col. Apichai Klobpetch eventually appeared in court the following day. He said couldn’t appear in court at the scheduled time as he was in China for state business and unfortunately did not notify the court in time.
Everything would have been ok but I was just too slow in sending my letter asking for a postponement. The police colonel said he was on overseas bureaucratic duty in China and couldn’t attend court on the day it was scheduled.
Col. Phairat Phaiphonratm a deputy commander at the police academy filed the libel charge, he has accused Apichai of libel for publishing a post on social media accusing him of running a scam through a charity drive that he had initiated.
Apichai has not been available to comment on these matters however Apichai he was negotiating with the plaintiff for an out of court settlement. As fellow police officers the Police Chief said “I really think we can reach an agreement eventually, it was just a misunderstanding on my part”.
The two policemen are planning to get together next Tuesday for out of court settlement negotiations.
