The Pattaya police chief is acting quickly after a video was widely shared on social media showing a taxi driver and an Uber driver duking it out in a carpark in Pattaya.
The brawl happened in the Makro car park in North Pattaya.
A taxi driver recorded the two men on his mobile and uploaded it to social media before it gained media attention. Yesterday Pattaya Police Chief Apichai Krobpetch questioned the driver who posted the video.
The poster Somdech Sribenjarak said he realised that the driver of the white car was an Uber driver picking up a foreign passenger from the store and recorded them with the intent to submit the video as evidence to the authorities, however another taxi driver had different ideas on how to handle the situation.
As the footage shows the two drivers soon come to blows with fists and feet flying.
Chief Apichai contacted both men via phone asking them to report to the police station but both men said they were too busy to visit the station. The chief said that the men have until today to report to the station or a summons would be issued.
The two men could be fined 5,000 baht each for being disorderly in public while the Department of Land Transport could also issue a further 5,000 baht fine and ban them from driving for up to three months.
