Curfew for Songkran

There will be no water throwing after the 20:00 in Pattaya. That is the official stance by the city’s police force.

Pol. Col. Apichai Kroppech, the chief of Pattaya police said that to ensure the safety of the public, an 8pm curfew will be strictly enforced.

The local authorities are installing signs and issuing statements based on the chief’s orders.

Everyone is welcome to take part in the festivities and enjoy what is a special occasion in Pattaya, especially on the 19th of April. However, the stipulation that all water throwing must cease by 8pm is now in force.

It makes sense to have a cut off period, for many people will be heading out to enjoy a evening with friends, whether its for a meal, a drink or a music venue. The last thing you want is to be soaking wet before you arrive at your destination.

There is also the safety element to consider. People who may have imbibed too freely with their choice of alcohol, could be put in danger during water fights.

Songkran is a time for celebration and fun. Enjoy it but stay safe.
