Driver who caused mass accident in Pattaya tested positive for drugs

Following yesterday morning’s horrific accident in Pattaya where the driver of a black Isuzu Pick-up crashed through a string of motorcycles and passenger’s police have stated that the driver has tested positive for drug use.

The driver of the pick-up initially told officers that he was epileptic and blacked out prior to the accident which left two dead and four people still seriously injured in hospital.

The driver named as Akkaradech Udomrat, 44, can be seen in CCTV footage causing utter carnage yesterday morning when ploughing through multiple bikes on the wrong side of the road, many of which had school children on.

Police carried out an alcohol test on Akkaradech which showed a negative result, the result of the test was shown on television.

Pattaya police later announced however Akkaradech tested positive for drug use and has been charged with driving with drugs in his system, which is punishable with a four year prison sentence.

Officers had already charged Akkaradech with three other charges all relating to causing death and injury through negligence.
