Those making frequent trips from Pattaya to Bangkok might not be too thrilled to find out that the price of the toll is about to be increased.
According to the Director-General of the Department of Highways (DOH) Thanin Somboon the new rate for using the motorway will come into effect on April 19 of this year and means that the price for the average car will from then be 105 baht increased from the previous rate of 60 baht.
He noted that the price increase was a reflection on the improved facilities and extended road network.
It is not only car users that will be subject to an increased fare six wheel trucks from April 19 will have to pay 170 baht increased from 100 baht and all larger vehicles will have to pay 245 baht increased from 140 baht.
According to the DOH the stretch of motorway is now equipped with better drainage and lighting as well as an improved road surface and fewer crossing points, traffic management is also said to have been improved now that a 24-hour control centre has been established to monitor for incidents.
