Thanks to the work of Pattaya lifeguards a Thai woman is now recovering after an afternoon swim nearly had deadly consequences.
After she passed out in the sea opposite Soi 4 on beach road on September 23. Emergency paramedics were called to the beach at around 5:30pm where lifeguards were performing CPR to an unconscious Thai woman.
Paramedics quickly took over from the lifeguards and rushed the woman to the Memorial Hospital. After a short while in the hospitals care the woman was conscious and breathing regularly.
Officers visited the woman at the hospital to try and get to the bottom of what happened.
The woman told the officers that she had been drinking with friends throughout the day and decided she wanted to go for a swim to cool down, there was only one problem she said she didn’t know how to swim.
She said she tried to stay in the shallows but the waves were big and knocked her off her feet at which point she started panicking and got swept out away from the shore.
Fortunately for the inebriated non-swimmer there were lifeguards and locals on hand to drag her to shore.
Officers advised the woman to think twice next time before going for a swim.
