Work has commenced on the overhead mess that is Pattaya’s electrical cables.
Moves are afoot to move much of the cabling underground, with a new electrical substation also under construction in the Chumsai area soon.
Almost 12 billion baht has been set aside to upgrade the infrastructure of Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, and Nakhon Ratchasima by 2021. Pattaya will receive 3.1 billion baht of the money.
Part of the plan is improving and stabilising the electricity supply by moving it underground.
Work has already commenced on Central Pattaya Road, which will mean traffic congestion as one lane will be closed for around two months.
If driving, it is advisable to stay away from the area if at all possible.
