Floating Pontoons At Pattaya Pier Under Scrutiny

Complaints have been rife with regards to the new floating docks for speedboats at Bali Hai Pier but The Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) claims the move has not damaged the tourist trade at the pier.

Pattaya City Councilman Sinchai Wattanasartsathorn has suggested that the new pontoons were unsafe, claiming there had been numerous near accidents as a floating docks could not cope with the demand.

ATTA state that the move is working well, reducing over crowding at the pier and disputed reports of lengthy waiting times to board boats bound for Koh Larn.

The Association of Thai Travel Agents said moving all speedboat boarding to Bali Hai Pier has not damaged Pattaya’s tourism industry despite complaints about long lines and unsafe conditions.

The Marine Department appear to agree with ATTA claiming daily schedules had improved since the move was initiated. Tour operators are now dealing with large groups of people with more ease.
