A gang used gas cutting equipment to break open a ATM machine on the Ban Bung – Klaeng Road in the early hours of yesterday morning, making off with over 350,000 baht.
The ATM was situated in front of a minimart in the Nong Yai district.
The minimarts owner Saiphin Suraprasert, 53, said she was awoken by the sound of a trucks horn that sounded for quite a while around 4.40 am, thinking nothing of it she went back to bed.
When she got up in the morning she realised something was wrong with ATM and called the police.
Somsak Bunsom an expert in the field investigated the ATM said the criminals were experts as they had severed the alarm cable which would of otherwise warned the bank to the theft in progress.
It is believed from evidence left by the criminals that they were able to get away with 370,400 baht.
Multiple police stations are investigating the crime; however there is no CCTV footage for the police to go on.
