Officers from the Transnational Crime Coordination Centre (TCCC) busted a health supplements shop in Pattaya on Saturday and arrested two men for selling medications illegally.
Dean Smart, 26, residing in Chonburi province, and Panom Pengchata, 25, from Nakorn Ratchasima province were both arrested following a sting operation that seen two foreigners go into the shop with marked money and purchase various illegal hormones and steroids.
The raid was carried out following a tip off that the Pattaya New Potrition Bam Store was secretly selling muscle building hormones and steroids to foreign customers under the guise of selling Whey Protein products.
Mr Smart, who is half Thai-half English, confessed to all accusations during questioning by officers. He said his customers were mostly foreigners who used the illegal medications for either personal use or to resell online.
The second suspect denied all charges.
Officers seized hormones in both tablet and liquid forms worth around 154,000 baht that were stocked in the shop and Mr Smart’s Toyata Altis car that was parked outside the store.
The suspects and evidence were taken to Muang Pattaya police station for processing.
The two face “cooperating in selling medications that haven’t been registered [with Thai FDA]” and “cooperating in selling modern medications without authorisation” charges.
