A night of heavy rainfall last night and into the early hours of this morning has left Bangkok heavily flooded.
The Bangkok metropolitan Administration’s Drainage Department issued a statement online at 7:30am this morning requesting that members of the public who do not have an urgent need to leave their homes to please stay inside as many of the roads were severely flooded.
At 8am a second statement was released informing the public that there were 32 flooded locations around the city, while the department had managed to drain water away from 23 other locations.
The Phra Nakhom district was the worst effected receiving the heaviest rainfall, 203-millimetres.
Flooded locations included Ratchavithi Road, Rama VI Road, Rajaprarop Road and Si Ayutthaya Road as well as others.
Reports state that flooding was so bad at 8am on Vibhavadi Soi 3 that cars were not able to drive through the waters, several attempted to but broke down after their engines flooded.
