It was announced by officials in Pattaya yesterday that this year’s Loy Krathong Festival will start at 5pm on November 3 and will be held at the Lan Po Public Park in Naklua.

Due to the festival falling so soon to the end of the mourning period of the late king officials have made the decision to tone down the children’s costume contest and is also the reason the festivities were not advertised prior to the announcement.

There will be a performance of Thai country music led by Tuk Ka-tan Chol-la-da one of Thailand’s most popular singers.

There will also be vendors in attendance selling an abundance of different food, drinks clothing and other handcrafted items.

Loy Krathong Festivities will also take place at the Floating Market in Pattaya, Map-prachan Reservoir Dam, and several different temples that are close to rivers so Krathong boats can be floated.

Officials said that people of all nationalities are invited to join in the festivities which only take place once each year.
