Pattaya Public Health officials have taken steps to rid beaches across Pattaya and Jomtien of animals which pose a risk of transmitting disease, especially rats by deploying teams of specialist on December 19.
Yesterday a team lead by Public health officials deployed over 100 traps from Central Pattaya Beach Road to Beach Road Soi 13/2 to catch rats, mice and other small rodents in an effort to prevent disease spreading from animals to humans.
Officials also spoke to beach vendors asking for their cooperation to keep the area free of rubbish in an effort to further reduce the rodent population.
Teams will deploy the traps weekly on Monday and Thursday evenings and return early on Tuesday and Friday mornings to collect the traps and their contents.
No mention was given in the report as to where the animals captured would be taken.
