The owner of a gold shop located inside of a Tesco Lotus in Chonburi has put up a 300,000 baht reward following an armed robbery at the store yesterday where thieves made off with 252 baht weight of gold.
It was reported that men dressed all in black wearing full face helmets brandishing guns entered the store on Tamnak Thong 5 and terrorised the staff at the store.
The men then fled on two motorcycles in the direction of Chonburi town.
The bikes had the plates 492 and 484 but officers noted they were likely fake.
The store’s owner Chaiyaporn Kittrakunthong has put up a reward of 300,000 baht for information leading to the apprehension of the thieves.
Juttu Rotbangyang, the Region 2 police chief called a meeting at 11:30pm last night to set up a team to investigate the robbery assigning officers to check CCTV in the area and check potentially known criminal suspects.
Further meetings will be held daily at 10pm to check the progress of the investigation.
No report was given as to the value of the gold stolen but it is estimated to exceed 10 million baht at today’s prices.
