While some will be happy, those of you who are regular visitors to the beach for a relaxing afternoon on the beach chairs may not be so happy with the new rules that came into effect on June 21.
Mayor Anan Charoenchasri announced a new policy that removes chairs and umbrellas from both Pattaya and Jomtien beaches on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Vendors are being instructed to remove all their property on Tuesday nights and told not to return until Friday mornings.
The new policy has been put in place for the rest of June and the whole of July so beaches surface can be levelled and restored ready for each weekend.
Along with the imposed two-day ban on chairs officials have decided all vendors will have to take part in a draw once a year to determine there spot on each respective beach.
The raffle for spots on Pattaya beach will take place on the 2nd of August and Jomtien beach will raffle of spots on the 9th of August.
They hope that by raffling of the spots it will end the monopoly some vendors had imposed on the industry over recent years.
What effect will imposing a force two days off work have on the livelihoods of those operating the beach chairs, time will only tell?
