A vendor selling E-cigarettes and shisha paraphernalia was the target of a night-time raid at his pitch outside of the Royal Garden department store on Saturday.
The operation led by Piyaphong Ensarn comprising of local police and tourist police pounced on the seeming unware seller arresting him and confiscating 100,000 baht’s worth of merchandise.
Taken away for evidence were 24 e-cigarettes, 10 electronic shisha pipes an assortment of coils, heads and charcoals and 125 vials of fluid for the e-cigarettes.
Reports say Tawatchai Muakseng, 33, was selling his merchandise openly and seemed to be shocked when the raiding party descended upon him before hauling him off to tourist police headquarters.
E-cigarettes are illegal in Thailand and selling them can result in a heavy fine and jail time.
Police are said to be cracking down on the sale of such items all across Thailand.
