Thanin Somboon director general of the Highways Department announced earlier this week that an extension of the motorway from Pattaya to Map Ta Phut is now 46 percent complete.
He elaborated saying that an additional 2 billion baht is now required for operations and maintenance of the 32-kilometer route of which terms are now being drawn up.
It is expected that the operations and maintenance system should be ready by July 2018 and the motorway extension open for use by 2020.
In the early part of 2018 bidding for construction on two additional routes to Bang Yai-Kanchanaburi and Bang Pa-in-Nakhon Ratchasima will begin.
The two additional routes were approved by the Thai cabinet at the start of this month with a meeting scheduled for October to discuss financing methods.
