The media and social media are both full of praise for one police lieutenant here in Pattaya whose quick actions helped save the life of a Russian tourist who got into trouble while swimming at Pattaya Beach.
50-year-old Dmitrii Rybin had been pulled from the water unconscious after locals noticed he was in distress and they had begun administering CPR when Officer Pol Lt Woraphan Kaewmorakot quickly arrived at the incident which took place opposite Soi 13/1.
Using prior training he took over the administration of CPR until foundation medics arrived who then rushed the stricken tourist to Pattaya Memorial Hospital.
It was reported by Sophon Cable TV that Mr Rybin responded well to treatment and is now out of danger and on the road to recovery.
Pol Lt Woraphan who is stationed at the Pattaya Police Station next to Central Festival, Beach Road said he heard report of the incident over the radio and quickly headed to the scene on his motorbike to lend his assistance.
He said this was the second time he has now been able to put his CPR training to good use.
No mention was made in the report as to the identity of those who pulled the unconscious man from the water, who some have commented online saying they deserve just as much credit for saving the Mr Rybin as officer Woraphan, either way well done to all involved in helping the stricken tourist.
