Police announced that they have carried out raids on several businesses owned by two high-profile drugs suspects, an Australian man and his Thai wife who were arrested back on December 10.
The raids were carried out at 2am on Sunday (December 17) on a hotel and a restaurant and bar owned by Luke Cook, 34, and his Thai wife Kanyarat Wechapitak, 40, in Pattaya.
The operation uncovered that the hotel and restaurant were both operating without the correct licensing and multiple foreign employees were working their without work permits, police also found evidence of drug use and one employee tested positive during a drugs test.
Those found to be working without work permits were taken into custody and taken to the Muang Pattaya Police Station where they will face further legal action.
The raids come after the two suspects were arrested when returning to Thailand at Suvarnabhumi International Airport where they were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking back in June of 2015.
The couple allegedly used a yacht to attempt to smuggle crystal meth into the kingdom but were discovered before ditching the illegal drugs overboard and fleeing, the drugs then allegedly washed ashore and officers say they supposedly have evidence to link the couple to the drugs.
The investigation is still ongoing.
