Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has spoken out to describe his vision of a more organised setup for both Pattaya and Jomtien Beaches which includes separate zones for different activities.
Following the PM’s visit to Pattaya for the International Fleet Review he has instructed city officials to bring the beaches more in line with national approaches to law and order.
He said that Jomtien Beach should be a model of good balance combing tourist attractions and activities saying “I’ve been to beaches overseas and think if a beach is too empty, it feels lifeless.”
The PM wants the beaches to have different areas for different activities to that they cater for all types of tourist saying “officials should arrange appropriate zones so that visitors can choose to either sit and drink beer, play sport or shop.”
Apparently the Prime Minister must be unaware of city official’s recent decision to ban the sale of alcohol on the beaches here in Pattaya and Jomtien.
He went on to warn that there shouldn’t be too many shops in place however like what has become normal and many other beaches across the kingdom.
Space should be used sensibly so that areas can be put in place for people who want to take part in commercial activities without disturbing those who wish for a quiet, peaceful day at the beach.
