Parking Is A Serious Concern At Wat Phra Khao Yai
The site of one of Pattaya’s most popular tourist locations has just twenty parking places it has been revealed.
Wat Phra Khao Yai is regarded as one of the best tourist attractions in Pattaya, attracting visitors in their thousands, yet parking is almost non-existent in the area.
The 18 metre tall “Big Buddha” can be seen from miles around but many come to pray and pay their respects at the golden statue.
The views over Pattaya from the summit of the hill are spectacular, and again, people visit in their droves to take photos of the city.
However, parking is a serious issue or should we say “lack of parking” with cars and buses taking up dangerous positions along the steep and winding road leading to the top of Pratumnak Hill.
It is not uncommon to see people place rocks in front of the wheels of their cars for fear that their brakes will not hold their vehicle on the steep inclines of the the hill.
Many believe that it is just a matter of time before disaster strikes, possibly from a runaway vehicle.
Imagine the carnage a runaway car or worse, a bus, could inflict on people walking or driving on the hill.
The attraction needs a decent car park. Let’s hope it gets one sooner rather than later.
