Police in Chon Buri carried out a raid on an illegal online gambling den resulting in the arrest of three Chinese men and four Chinese women.

A press conference was held this morning (August 18) at the bureau head office where Pol Lt-General Jitti Rodbangyang announced the arrests.

He said that the seven suspects were all in the country on student visas and had been running the gambling den, where they took bets on sports events over the past eight months.

They were all arrested at a rented house in Natcha housing estate in Tambon Nong Plue.

Officers took into evidence 10 computers, two Wi-Fi routers as well as their operations list of clients.

Lt-General Jitti said that the perpetrators were taking bets from clients here in Thailand which amounted to tens of millions of baht and electronically transferring the profits to their boss overseas.

He alleged that the leader of the operation here was being paid 1.5 million baht per month to run the operation.
