Pattaya, a coastal city, remains sunny and warm in most of the time of the year. In summers the sun can be pretty harsh too, making any outdoor activity quite difficult for tourists in daytime.
The city council, considering the climate, has nodded to the construction of Shaded Waiting Area on Bali Hai Pier. Bali Hai Pier is one of the most frequented ferry piers in the city.
So far, the well decorated pier never had any designated waiting area. The deputy City Manager asserted before the council that the tourists and passengers normally wait for the Koh Larn ferries at the pier, directly exposed under the scorching sun. To avoid this extreme condition, many tourists route back to the main Bali Hai Pavilion which mostly remains overcrowded.
As a solution to heat, the council has resolved to build shaded waiting area with fiberglass roofs in Bali Hai Pier. No timetable or budget was declared by the council. It is expected that the funds will be acquired by the council within a brief time for the commencement of the project.
