Some 600 policemen deployed in Pattaya to keep Songkran safe

Chon Buri police chief Pol Maj Gen Somprasong Yenthuam has said 600 officers will be deployed on the streets on Pattaya to ensure public safety during the Songkran celebrations.

Those who were planning on drenching festival goers from the back of a pick-up truck could be in for a rude awakening as they may face arrest. Checkpoints will be set up to prevent pick-ups from entering the city centre, should there be evidence of water soaking equipment.

It was announced earlier last week that powerful water guns were also under attack.

Whilst we at Love Pattaya back the authorities stance of public safety, we also wish to see people having fun.

Have the police gone overboard or are they right to deploy so many officers on the streets?

Tell us what you think.
