Summer storms hit Bangkok and Pattaya, rain causes traffic woes

It would appear the summer storms the MET Department have been warning us about all week have arrived in the nation’s capital bring with them heavy rain which has caused traffic problems at several places across Bangkok.

The storm which hit in the early hours of the morning has left many surrounding provinces (including parts of Pattaya) inundated with water.

The Jor Sor 100 traffic radio stated that at 6.50am this morning the Poo Chao Saming Prai intersection was already under water on both side of the road and causing delays.

The rain began falling at 5:15am in Bangkok and surrounding suburbs and by 7am there was widespread traffic delays reported on many roads including Phet Kasem Road and Rama IV Road.

More rain could still be on be on the way with the MET Department predicting storms to continue until tomorrow when the high-pressure cell moving across the kingdom from China will eventually pass.

One thing for sure after the recent loud thunderstorm that hit Pattaya last night at around 3am there will probably be a few people needing an extra cup of coffee or two today.
