(MENAFN) The governor of Thailand’s northern Mae Hong Son province declared that a child, aged two, has died in a mudslide sparked by typhoon Mangkhut.

Governor Sirirat Chumuppakan confirmed that seven people reportedly remain missing, with a boy, aged here among them.

The mudslide has wounded 11 more people, devastated seven homes and damaged six others in a refugee camp on the northern tip of province’s Sop Moei district.

Data revealed by the Border Consortium, a non-govermental organization helping Myanmar refugees along the Thai border, shows that around 9,000 people from Myanmar, mainly ethnic Karen, have been displaced.
