The tourist police were out in force along Pattaya’s beaches on November 21, as part of an operation to inspect boat operators around the city.
Checking that they all had the correct licenses and that their vessels were seaworthy.
The operation was overseen by Sgt. Maj. Sarawuth Aipsitsophon of the Tourist Police Devision Marine Security Control and was accompanied by soldiers and Marie police when carrying out the checks.
The operation required officers to check that all boats were free of leaks and that their engines were in good working order.
Warnings were handed out to all captains and crewmembers regarding drinking whilst working, with threats of licenses being revoked and jail for anyone found disobeying the law.
Following the operation police noted that boat operators cooperated fully with their checks.
However they requested that they do more to remind customers to wear life jackets while aboard and advise tourists of where to swim and where not to swim.
