Two Pattaya speedboat operators arrested for 1.2 million baht theft

Two Speedboat operators here in Pattaya were arrested yesterday (December 5) and stand accused of stealing over one million baht’s worth of items from a Chinese tourist according to Pattaya police.

Allegedly Surasak Intarachote, 50, and Rattanapol Sae-ui, 21, stole an iPhone X estimated to be worth 50,000 along with a 600,000 baht neckless and a 600,000 baht diamond ring from a Chinese tourist’s bag whilst he was swimming in the sea at Koh Larn on Monday.

Pattaya’s police chief announced the arrests yesterday stating that both had been charged with theft.

CCTV footage revealed one of the suspects picking up the bag and fleeing whilst the tourist was in the water, officers then tracked Rattanapol to Ta Waen Beach where he allegedly admitted to perpetrating the crime.

He told officers he discarded the expensive iPhone X and kept the neckless and gave the ring to Surasak who sold it.

Rattanapol has been charged with theft and his accomplice Surasak charged with possession of a stolen item.
