According to the head of the Hoteliers Association responsible for the eastern seaboard the future looks very bright for tourism numbers in Pattaya noting that there has been a surge in the number of Russian tourists returning to the region with an increase of 10 percent compared to 2017.
Speaking about the return of the Russian tourists Sanpetch Suphabowonsathian remarked that the number of Russian tourists now coming to Pattaya is pretty much back to the numbers visiting in 2013.
He said there had been a decline in the number of Russian visitors over the last couple of years, with many attributing falling numbers to the collapse of the ruble (Russia’s currency) coupled with other economic issues back home.
With their return it is predicted that the total number of tourists in Pattaya will increase by a further 10 percent on figures seen last year.
With school holidays on the horizon it is expected that numbers will increase further and currently experts are predicting 80 percent hotel occupancy during the break.
Have you noticed an increase of people here in Pattaya?
