In an effort to further prevent flooding here in Pattaya workers from the Sanitation department were dispatched to Sukhumvit Road to clean out its drainage canal and remove growing vegetation and rubbish.
Heavy equipment was brought in and workers used shovels to remove mud and other debris to better facilitate water flow in the large storm drain on February 13.
Workers were out all day and managed to clear the storm drain all the way to Central Road before eventually calling time on the operation.
City officials said this was just the start of planned works with more areas to get some much needed attention which will include cleaning out drains and waterways as well as clearing overgrown roadside vegetation in an effort to reduce flooding around the city in the future.
