The introduction of 115 new carriages and over 300 cargo containers have been added for passenger comfort and enhancing the freight network respectively. Safety measures at level crossings are also being addressed.

Projects such as the dual track lines and the Red Line commuter service in Bangkok are planned, with investment of 44.2 billion baht for the latter.

The extension comprises of 30km Light Red Line (Bang Sue-Phaya Thai-Makkasan-Hua Mak) and the Dark Red Line (Bang Sue-Hua Lamphong) which are scheduled to open in 2020.

There is no doubt that a modern, fast, efficient, passenger rail system would be a huge benefit to the country, including a fast rail link from Pattaya to Bangkok.
