Bangkok’s Metropolitan police department rounded up over 1200 suspects and confiscated over 25,000 methamphetamine tablets over the New Year holiday period.
Officers from the Metropolitan police Bureau took into custody 1,277 criminal suspects and confiscated as evidence 25,169 methamphetamine tablets along with 2.119 kilograms of crystal meth (ICE) over seven days of raids during the New Year holiday period.
The announcement of the arrests and seizures was made by Pol Maj-General Phanurat Lakboon who stated officers carried out a series of operations from December 28 to January 3.
Of those arrested during the seven day crime suppression operation 1027 suspects were taken into custody relating to drugs offenses, 83 suspects were arrested for physical assault cases, 107 for robbery, 20 suspects were arrested in connection to human trafficking, 38 in relation to firearms cases and two suspects were arrested in connection to illegal loans.
Along with the haul of drugs confiscated officers also seized 32 firearms and 245 rounds of ammunition.
