It was announced today by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation that national parks across the kingdom raised 2.41 billion baht from entrance fees over the course of 2017.
Songtham Suksawang, Director of the National Park Office stated that government campaigns to boost domestic tourism helped contribute to the rise in entrance numbers.
The top earning national parks last year were Hat Noppharat Thara- Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park and Similan Island National Park.
Over the course of 2017 figures showed that over 17 million people visited national parks across the country and that number is expected to increase by a further 8 million during 2018.
Director Suksawang made it very clear that his department would put measures in place to accommodate for the increasing number of visitors traveling to national parks.
